• Allow space for future expansion to give you the option to increase your collection of wine. 30% should be adequate.
• Allow for differing or odd-sized bottles that you may want to store.
• Decide if you want to store wine cases and glasses too, if so take note of their numbers and dimensions.
• Do you need locked doors or climate control?
• Ensure you construct your rack so that the slots are at the right angle so that the corks will stay moist. If the corks dry out they will shrink and allow air to the wine and ruin it.
