Red Wine Labels
All wines that are bottled for sale in the US are required to be labeled with certain items. The wineries as an industry are regulated by the federal agency now known as the TTB. This is what was formerly the BATF. In 2002 the "F", or firearms was split off from the "A" & "T", alcohol & tobacco. So now the agency is called the Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau. (TTB for short) As part of their responsibilties they regulate essentially every item we are accustomed to viewing on wine labels. There is a set of required items that all wines must display, and there are also many other commonly used terms/text that though not required to appear must meet regulatory requirements if they are used.
